Eid-al-Adha Announcement
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum.
Alhamdulillah we entered the month of Dhul-Hijjah. InshaAllah Arafat will be on Sunday (September 11) and the first day of Eid al Adha will be on Monday (September 12). May Allah (swt) bless our community and the whole Muslim ummah with a happy and peaceful Eid.
Taking this opportunity, we would like to remind you about the significance of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and provide some logistical information about the upcoming Eid arrangements.
- The significance of the first ten days of this month has been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. We know that the second verse of Surat al Fajr makes a specific reference to these ten nights. We also know that the Messenger of Allah (swt) has been reported as saying "there are no deeds as excellent as those done in these ten days". In that context, it has been reported that the Messenger (sav) used to fast during the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah. So, let's follow His Sunnah and take advantage of these days by increasing our salah, charity and fasting. Let's remember that it is strongly advised to fast during the day of Arafat.
- Please note that there will be only one Eid prayer and it will be held at 8.00 am at Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. You can check this map in English or this map in Arabic for the location and directions. (There will be no Eid prayer at the mosque.)
Since Monday is a working day, it is likely that there will be some busy traffic on the way. So please depart from your homes early enough and arrive at the Arena latest by 7.45 am.
When you come to the Arena, please make sure that you park in the designated parking area only.
- We will Insha'Allah have a Community Eid Party from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, September 12, again at the premises of the Jack Byrne Arena. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to buy tickets in advance.
During the party there will be fun activities for children such as bouncy castles, face painting etc. There will also be food stalls where MANAL volunteers will sell pizza, meals, snacks and drinks for you AND your children. All proceeds from food sale will be used to help covering the costs of the party.
Please see this poster in English or this poster in Arabic for more information about the party.
Once again, we wish you and your families a very happy and peaceful Eid.
Jazakum Allahu Khairun,
MANAL Executives
