Summary of Proposed Changes to Articles of Association

Here is a list summarizing the proposed changes to the articles of MANAL:

Members in good standing and types of membership are defined more precisely.

The number of Executive positions is being reduced from 7 to 6 in order to enable a balance in number of positions elected each year.

Provision is made for election of half the members of the Executive in one year and the rest in next year, each with a two year term.

Duties of the Executive are defined more clearly.

Provision is made for the Executive to develop guidelines for general operations of the Mosque, the MANAL and its various committees.Provides for the appointment of an Election Officer in time for dealing with the election process.

Election process is streamlined.
Provides for appointment of an independent outside Auditor on a periodic basis.
Provides for appointment of a full time Imam if and when warranted.
Process for amendments to the Articles of Association is more clearly identified.
Trust Fund section has been modified and shortened.
There are a number of other minor changes which provide better clarity to the existing Articles.
