Eid-al Adha commemorates the unwavering devotion and sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in obedience to Allah (SWT). It also signifies his absolute trust and submission to Allah’s will. The celebration provides Muslims an opportunity to contemplate the values of sacrifice, patience, submission, obedience and steadfastness in their faith. As per the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), fasting during the first nine days of Zul-Hijja is a highly-recommended and highly-rewarded act.
MANAL would like to thank all the volunteers who help us maintain the two Mosques (Masjid Al Noor and Masjid Suleman Dawood) and manage MANAL's operational activities throughout the year.
May Allah (SWT) bless our community and the whole Muslim ummah with a happy and peaceful Eid-al Adha.

Eid al-Fitr
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu’ Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
MANAL is pleased to convey Eid greetings to all members of the community.
It is with a heavy heart that we see the passing of Ramadan, the month of moral and spiritual uplift, mercy and endless blessings, but at the same time we are grateful to Allah (SWT) for enabling us to experience this Ramadan through prayers and good deeds, and hope to experience many more Ramadans in the future Insha'Allah.
The successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid celebrations remind believers about the values of Gratitude (Shukr), Ihsan (compassion and excellence), and Sincerity (Khushu). These three living principles shape a believer’s character and impact the world around him/her. Gratitude grounds the heart in contentment and resilience, Ihsan elevates our dealings with kindness, justice, and excellence, and Sincerity purifies our intentions so that our actions carry lasting meaning. When these values are lived together, they nurture inner peace, strengthen relationships, build trust in communities, and bring barakah into our efforts. By embodying these timeless values in our daily lives, we do not only draw closer to Allah (SWT), but we also become a source of goodness, healing, and positive change in the current turbulent world.
We would like to share important information with our community as part of Eid celebrations.
For those who have not yet paid, Zakatul Fitr is $20 per person and must be paid BEFORE the Eid prayer. You can pay your Zakatul Fitr through the donation boxes/Square systems located at the mosque or through a member of the MANAL Executive Committee.

There will be two Eid prayers - the first Eid prayer will start at 7:15AM and the second prayer at 8:45AM. Both prayers will be held at Suleman Dawood Masjid (135 Torbay Road, St. John’s).
There will be NO Eid prayer at the Masjid Al-Noor (430 Logy Bay Road).
When you come for the Eid prayer, please make sure that you make Wudu at home, and park in the designated parking area as per directions provided by MANAL volunteers.
MANAL would like to thank all the volunteers who help us maintain the Mosque and manage MANAL’s operational activities throughout the year and especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
May Allah (SWT) bless our community and the whole Muslim ummah with a happy and peaceful Eid.

January 29 Commemoration
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum.
It has been almost nine years since a gunman entered the Centre Culturel Islamique in Quebec City and opened fire on the congregation who had gathered there for Isha prayer. This horrific attack took the lives of six Muslim men and gravely injured many others. It also left six widows, several orphans and many survivors with irrevocable losses and lifelong trauma.
Since this tragic and horrific attack, MANAL has strongly advocated for, and played an active role in, addressing and taking action against Islamophobia. We have helped to develop national and provincial strategies to identify and eliminate the systemic causes of this problem. We remain committed to be part of the solution by working together with our national, provincial and municipal allies.
As a result of our collective efforts, in 2021, the Government of Canada designated January 29 a National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. In 2023, a similar designation was also made by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As we approach the ninth anniversary of the Quebec City Mosque attack, we are taking some initiatives to honor the memories of the victims and to express our continued commitment to stand against Islamophobia. Accordingly:
We have reached out to different levels of government asking for public monuments (i.e. Government House, Confederation Building and City Hall) to be lit green on January 29 as a symbolic gesture of support and solidarity
As part of a national campaign, MANAL Executives, Volunteer Imams & Khateebs will be publicly wearing a 2" x 2" green square during the week of January 29. (All members of our Muslim community are encouraged to join the campaign. You can get your green square from Masjid Al Noor. Otherwise, you can easily home make your own green square using felt or any other material and then attach it to your jacket/coat with a safety pin.)
May Allah (SWT) bless all the victims of Islamophobia with the highest ranks of Jannah, give patience and strength to their families and friends. As Muslim Canadians, we will continue to do our part by spreading peace and awareness in our communities, supporting each other and standing up for our rights.
Jazakumullahu Khairan
